Port Tampa Bay to host forums to discuss international trade and FTZ benefits
TAMPA, Fla.—Port Tampa Bay and Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) No. 79, both serving the Tampa Bay/I-4 Corridor, announced today that they will host two separate forums on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, to discuss the FTZ program and how it can benefit importers, exporters, distributors and manufacturers utilizing Florida’s largest port, which serves the huge and growing Central Florida market.
Torrey Chambliss, who sits on the board of directors of the National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones and manages the FTZ functions at Port Tampa Bay, will speak on the national perspective of the FTZ benefits. In addition Wade Elliott, VP of marketing for Port Tampa Bay, will be on hand with Nancy Chinander, Global Trade Compliance Leader of Catalent Pharma Solutions, to share examples of how the FTZ program has enhanced their import/export operations. Moreover, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be there to answer questions about trade flows and compliance.
“Port Tampa Bay is pleased to share information about the benefits of the FTZ program,” Paul Anderson, port president and CEO, said. “With such a large and active market right here in our back yard, we want to ensure that companies within the Tampa Bay/I-4 Corridor region are familiar with this unique incentive because it can help them optimize their import/export strategies, reduce their costs and grow their business,” he said.
“The FTZ program is a federally sponsored platform that helps U.S.-based companies compete in the global marketplace. Companies in the Tampa Bay-Orlando region are active in the international marketplace and these two events are designed to support and ultimately enhance their import/export operations,” said Chambliss.
